The Candy Book Tag is a new book blog tag started by Samantha @ Bookish Serendipity. This is a list of candy . . . and we have to match them with books. Awesome.
On a dark and stormy night, I was brainstorming post ideas. Suddenly, I remembered that I still have tags that I have to do! I love tags (someone tag me in more *wink*) but I always forget to do them. Luckily, I had this one and another one (coming soon) written down. So today, I’m here with The Candy Book Tag! Candy and books? Doesn’t get any better than that. Thank you to the lovely Emily from Loony Literate for tagging me!
Stolen by Lucy Christopher is apparently meant to be amazing? And it’s won awards too. But I just don’t get how it’s an incredible love story. It was just incredibly disgusting and psychotic to me. I tried so hard to finish it but I couldn’t get through the grossness of it all.
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven is my new favourite book of all time. It’s an incredible story of how much internal pain can hurt. Even though it’s not for everyone, this doesn’t stop me from raving about it to everyone. It’s something that I think people (especially young people) should experience even if they don’t enjoy it.
I’m going to steal Emily’s answer for this and say Allegiant by Veronica Roth. Or more specifically, the ending of it. I know some people love it but it just wasn’t for me. I appreciate the author’s bravery with it but I feel like it could have ended differently with a similar impact.
I adore romance novels so this one was a very hard choice. I decided to just go for my most recent favourite, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. My review of it went up recently so you can check out all my swooning. I promise that it’s a super cute story!
You by Caroline Kepnes isn’t terrifying but it’s the only semi-creepy book I’ve read. I usually stay away from scary things because I don’t want to check under my bed every night! This one was creepy in an amazing way. It’s more a thriller than anything else. You can check out my review for this one as well.
Unfortunately, this one was Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I promise that I wanted to fly through it but this one was too different compared to the first 2 in the series. It took me a bit of adjusting before I could fall in love with it. But I did get through it and I don’t regret it.
Diary of a Would-Be Princess by Jessica Green is one I read when I was 10 and still love today. I related the main character really well and I’m so glad that my Year 4 teacher gave me the book as a present.
