Tip of the Day: The workout selfie - love it or hate it? It's been awhile since I posted a workout selfie, but on my blog, I'm pretty sure it's here to stay! On one side of the coin, people believe that selfies stem from a bit of narcissism and that individuals share these pictures fishing for compliments. Now, I totally get that and partially agree, except it's such a generalization and does not characterize all selfies, specifically workout selfies.
I view the workout selfie as an accountability check in. When we share these images on social media or with friends, it sets an expectation for ourselves in a positive way. Not to mention...the vast majority of workout selfies are images of sweaty, tired individuals after a workout and are clearly not the best portrayals of that individuals physical beauty; it's clearly the inner beauty and strength portrayed through the workout selfie!
I encourage you to share your workout selfies. If you're on Instagram, hashtag your selfies with #LGAccountability so that I and others participating can see and support! If you need someone to blame for uploading the image....blame me...I told you to do it :) Really though, I cannot tell you how much feedback I receive that supports the benefit of staying motivated by checking in 1x per day with what you did to stay active and healthy! Now let's see those pictures!
