Two New Palettes: Love & Leave

Fun fact of the day is there’s a designated palette drawer in my IKEA Alex. That was actually one of the first assigned drawers as palettes are my largest weakness. The compact ability, the complimentary shades and exciting components get my beauty-addict insides tingling. Here’s what’s new on the scene…

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette, £56 here

Available in 7 shades, possibly the most beautiful palette I’ve seen in a long time these ones from Hourglass are simply gorgeous. Over on my instagram you all seemed highly intrigued to find out the scoop. Despite looking gorgeous the eyeshadow formula wasn’t up to scratch for me. There seemed to be a lot of fallout, even from dipping your brush in the palette so pigmentation from one shade would fall over onto the others and things got (only slightly) messy. The eyeshadow shades themselves are gorgeous and I just adore the colour selection in this palette, Hourglass made purple shadow appeal to a solely neutral shadow lover like myself but I found the longevity of shadows on my lids just wasn’t up to scratch. The shades were slightly strange in colour payoff, not the most even in pigmentation and slightly difficult to blend. I would say save your pennies on this one, despite how beautiful it is.

NARSissist Blush, Contour & Lip Palette, £35 here

Yes yes and yes. The most compact palette NARS has launched with three blush shades, a bronzer, highlight and lipgloss. These are the kind of palettes my heart beats for. The three blush shades, Enrapture, Enthralled and Roman Holiday are all pink-toned, with two being slightly more on the peachy side. Personally I love mixing blush colours so this is right up my street! The lipgloss isn’t anything to shout from the rooftops about but it’s a nice, handy addition to the palette and is a suit-all baby pink shade that’s pretty transparent. On the bottom layer comes Laguna bronzer, an all time favourite of mine and Albatross highlighter, which is a gorgeous frosty highlight but slightly too cool toned for me. The pigmentation of NARS products in palettes don’t seem to match up to their amazing formula win the usual sizes for some reason but they’re still amazing to have in one compact none the less.
