"Easy, Breezy"

Does being stylish always mean heavily decorated, pushing the envelope, or doing something out of the ordinary? While I do enjoy seeing people wear layers in an innovative way or mix prints, I found myself asking if that's the only way to be "stylish". I was mostly wondering this because of my failed attempts at print mixing like Solange, or my embarrassing bow tie phase that was inspired by Janelle Monae. Lately I've been finding that although I adore really interesting fashion, I prefer to keep things simple:

On days when I'm dressed like this I don't think I'm very stylish because nothing is out of the ordinary, innovative, or super interesting (no spikes, no gold, no monochrome, no print mixing, no ornaments). But after some thought I've decided that being "stylish" is just having a style of your own. It shouldn't take planning, or much thought. So I've decided that the things I gravitate to and just throw on are my style. No more looking to others for inspiration and no more thinking I'm not stylish just because I like to be plain and simple!

What do you guys think? What makes someone stylish? Taking risks? Being innovative? I want to know!
