Rodial Cosmetics

I was lucky enough to be sent these gorgeous products from the new cosmetics line from skincare super-brand Rodial. Their poster girl and beauty ambassador is the beautiful Daisy Lowe with the collection being designed as a tightly edited selection of products to sculpt and define the face. All of the products have been developed with a universal shade that suit all skin tones. This post is simply an overview of a few pieces but I will be giving you my thoughts on each product over the next couple of weeks. Rodial is definitely a high end, luxury brand so it’s not going to be for everyone. I get that not everyone would spend this much money on beauty products but for those who have a penchant for the opulent…

Instaglam Airbrush Primer (£34) - This is a lightweight, hydrating face primer which contains hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It also contains gransil and osilift to tighten the skin and blur imperfections. It’s colourless with a matte finish and it can be blended into the skin without any weird residue. I really like the idea of combining skincare with a standard primer and I’m guessing this is what justifies the price tag!

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Illuminating Powder (£52) - This universal pale champagne, opalescent powder was developed to highlight facial features and add a candle-lit, natural looking glow. It was formulated with micronization technology and fine pearls, giving the skin a silky texture and ensuring an even application. The lightweight powder is smooth, very finely milled and has much more of a gleam effect than anything resembling glitter or shimmer. It appears as if it’s been designed to be a very natural looking highlight rather than anything too obvious. And lets just take a moment to appreciate the gorgeously heavy, luxe packaging!

Hyaluronic Cheek Sculpt (£24) – This coral-tinted, lightweight gel cream adds a natural hint of colour to the cheeks and gives a longlasting performance. It contains hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin and imparts a healthy glow. It’s a very subtle product so don’t expect a whole load of intense colour. It comes in a handy pump bottle which makes it practical and hygienic. It blends out on the skin as a very sheer dose of colour on the face and is perfect for that ‘no-makeup’ look.

Instaglam Glow (£25) – This click-up pen highlighter contains a golden-toned luminescent complexion enhancer to add a glow to the high points of the face. It’s a more obvious highlighter than the illuminating powder so it’s great if you’re going for a more amped up evening look. It’d be great to use on the inner corner of the eye and even as a base for eyeshadow application. It’s more light-reflective than the other highlighters so if a lovely highlight on the tops of your cheekbones is your thing, then this little guy is more for you. It does look intense when you first swatch it but once it’s blended out, it turns into more of a golden glow. I’d say it would be more suited to medium-dark skinniness though.

Glamolash Mascara XXL (£24) – This mascara claims to offer intensely black colour concentration with supercharged volume. The formula was designed to be long-wearing to ensure lashes are maximised all day long. It contains beeswax for lash conditioning, carnauba wax for even application and soluable collagen to provide full body to lashes with shine. I will report back on how I get on with this because I am very picky about my mascaras! It seems to be a very personal thing and everyone likes different formulations depending on whether they have fine or thick lashes, short or long and what kind of finish they prefer.

Instaglam Magic Pen Eye Glow (£22) – This pearlescent, creamy pencil was designed to fake a good night’s sleep – something which I think we all need from time to time! It has a very blendable formula and can be used around the outer and inner corners of eyes to add brightness and open them up. You can also apply it along the waterline to counteract any redness and erase signs of fatigue. Alternatively, use it under the arches of your brows to lift and define their shape after you’ve filled them in. You can also use it to define your cupid’s bow to make lips appear more plump.

Smokey Eye Pen in Brown (£17) - This eye pencil is so creamy and pigmented and gives more of a gel-effect on the lash line. The dark brown shade is perfect for natural looking definition during the day when placed between the lashes to make them appear thicker. It seems pretty versatile because it can either be smudged for a smokey effect or used to add a flick. You need to be quick to blend it out but it does stay put once it sets. A good competitor in the realm of reliable eye pencils!
