Fitness Friday | Favorite Healthy Food Blogs

Who needs to buy new cookbooks when you have the internet? I used to be a cookbook, magazine buying junkie for new healthy meal inspiration – but now there are a plethora of healthy foodie bloggers sharing their recipes, techniques and tips. Check out my five favorite healthy food blogs and I guarantee, you won’t have to wonder what to make for dinner ever again!

  1. Clean and Delicious with Dani Spies: I love this lady (she is after all, a Jersey girl)!!! Not only does she share new, creative clean recipes, but they are also simple and easy to follow. Plus, she often has videos to accompany her recipes in case you are more of a visual learner. I really appreciate that she includes the nutritional value in her recipes – I know how much effort taking that extra step requires. In fact, I made her ground turkey zucchini boats two weeks ago and they were absolutely delicious.
  2. Inspiralized: Need I say more? We all know how much I am obsessed with spiralizing! I don’t think a week has gone by since I tried zoodles that I haven’t incorporated them into my meals. This blog is completely dedicated to spiralized recipes and she also recently released a hard-copy cookbook for more traditionalists.
  3. Skinny Taste: One of the first healthy/clean eating blogs I discovered, I love the diversity of recipes on the site. You can fine breakfast, lunch, dinner and appetizers plus all the recipes are Weight Watcher friendly. In addition – she has a hard copy cookbook as well.
  4. Fit Foodie Le: A brown girl, healthy food blogger and soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. YASSSSSSS!!!!! This girl is ultra inspirational – she not only shares amazing food recipes but also her fitness life as well. Plus for all those moms out there, Le is right up your alley. Her journey began through unhappiness after delivering her first child, then later she chronicled her pre and post pregnancy journey of her second child online. Staying fit with two small kids is totally possible and she shows us how its done (notes to self for the future)!
  5. Lexi’s Clean Kitchen: This is one of the most comprehensive clean eating, healthy food blogs I’ve stumbled across. Lexi has tons of smoothie and shake recipes, plus gluten free and vegan options. My favorite is her 30 minutes or less category, which is great for busy career women and moms!
  6. Instagram: Okay, so this is totally not a blog, but that’s why its a bonus as my number six pick! Allow me to explain. I can cook. Pretty dern well if I do say so myself (my mister and mother will attest to it)! So sometimes, I don’t need a full recipe – I just need a bit of meal inspiration. Instagram is perfect for finding photos of meals to give you great ideas! Just search the proper hashtags: #MealPrep, #SaladinaJar, #CleanEating, #HealthyEating, #Spiralizer, #SlowCooker, #GreenSmoothie….whatever suits your fancy! I even have my own hashtag for whenever I happen to share meals: #ECPcooks. On Instagram, you’ll find lots of “regular” people (not food experts or chefs) sharing their meals and sometimes captioning with a quick recipe! Don’t sleep on Instagram!
