Mother : With Anthropologie

My mother is my best friend. I can confide in her; she knows my deepest secrets, fears and wishes. When we're together, I can guarantee you that there will be tears of laughter. She has nurtured me, selflessly, through the toughest of times and has been my loudest cheerleader when things are going well. Her advice is my gospel and her love is my comfort blanket. We have lively, emotional debates on the trickiest of subjects yet we always make up and move on afterwards. We enjoy doing the same things and visiting the same places. We share the same taste in clothes, interiors and literature. For all of our differences, we share so many similarities that make up the larger part of my being. She makes me who I am.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~ WASHINGTON IRVING
Anthropologie kindly invited me to choose a couple of items from their website that reminded me of my mum and the quirks that we share in the run up to Mother's Day.

She loves owls, they're her favourite animal (after those of the feline nature, naturally). She refers to her fluffy cat as Henry Owl, as she came to the totally bizarre and wonderful conclusion that he looks more owl than cat. This jar reminds me of our shared love, I'm reminded of her vibrancy, eccentricity. Of her brightness and playfulness whenever I glance over at it in all of it's technicolor glory. It's delightful, isn't it!? Hopefully it will remind my children of their mother, someday.

I also chose the beautiful, textured scarf pictured to the left. Mum's favourite colour is green and upon spotting it, I was instantly reminded of something that she would probably like to wear. Maybe a certain someone will find this sitting in a pretty gift bag, next week?

I shall definitely be returning to Anthropologie when I am on the hunt for something a little different or unexpected as a gift.
