#RealJuiceReboot

We survived January! We're almost done with February! I'm not sure what it is about these months that I find so difficult to deal with. Perhaps it's the lack of sunlight, freezing cold temperatures or the inevitable slump after an exciting Christmas. I always find myself needing to find an extra boost to push myself through the darker days.

Last month, I was asked if I would like to take part in Philip's #RealJuiceReboot challenge. I love my veggies but sometimes find it difficult to fit in my five a day. I figured that the real juice reboot was going to be the easiest way to get them into my diet and, fingers crossed, would help me to feel brighter and ready to tackle January and February fearlessly.

I was kindly sent a Philip's juicer and an array of colourful vegetables to create the juices with, alongside a handy recipe sheet. I somehow managed to rope Jack into taking part with me. We went a little juicing mad during the first week, even making up juices to share with family (my mother was so impressed that she went out and bought the same juicer for herself!).

My favourite juices were the ones consisting mainly of fruit, ginger and mint as I soon realised that I didn't really enjoy the taste and texture of the leafier, green and root juices. I particularly enjoyed the 'Beat The Bloat' juice, consisting of 3/4 of a small pineapple, 2 green apples, 2 handfuls of fresh mint and 1 peeled lime. And the 'Stir and Purr' juice which was made up of 1 green apple, 7 strawberries, 15 de-stoned cherries and 1/2 a cucumber. While I can't really say whether the juices did what they claimed they were supposed to do on the recipe sheet (I'm sure that with prolonged consumption of a single recipe you would start to feel the desired effects), I gained many positives through this experience.

Leafy, green juices aside, I feel that sticking it out and trying each one has given me more energy, clearer skin and made me more aware of the effects of the bad food vs the good food that I am nourishing my body with. I'll be attempting to continue on with my juicing journey. Concentrating on adding more fruit and veg into my diet has given me the kick that I needed to begin taking my diet and health seriously.

Have you tried juicing? Any tips on making green juices more bearable?
