travel: siena, part two

Our day trips into Siena were all windy streets and cobblestones and negronis and people watching. We took one day to tour the Duomo. Siena's Duomo was consecrated in 1215. 1215!
The Duomo's exterior and interior are striped w/ white and greenish black marble and it is nothing short of stunning. The interior renders you speechless. (Unfortunately, a lot of your fellow tourists won't shut up or speak at a respectable volume for a church, so it kinds of wears off eventually.) Every Duomo I've been to in Italy has been a highlight, but Siena's Duomo was exceptional.
