10 Festive Looks to Inspire your Cinco de Mayo Outfit

No Cinco de Mayo themed week would be complete without a little outfit inspo… and while I was going to create more of a shopping post, about what to buy, I thought why not get a little creative with what’s already in our closets, because even though it feels like there’s never anything to wear, sometimes a little inspiration is all we need. So here are 10 different festive and bright looks that will hopefully get you thinking about what you already have in your closet just waiting to be worn in a brand new way.

For an all-day event…

What’s great about a tunic style dress or a shift dress is you can easily throw on a pair of jeans or pants on underneath and still pull off a cute look. My only suggestion here would be to bring a larger handbag to stuff your jeans into and the little clutch or wristlet to carry around with your phone and lip gloss, etc. The essentials, of course.

Flowers in your hair…

If there was any day of the year to wear a flower crown, I think Cinco de Mayo would be it! These are separate hair clips I easily clipped in to create a crown effect, which I think is a little simpler and more comfortable than a crown or headband, but you can wear whatever you like. The brighter the better!

Cute & Comforatable…

If you’ve got kids, and you probably do, you’re also probably chasing them around all day and wearing a dress, and a short one at that, is really a challenging option, considering you’ll be bending down and picking them up and all the kinds of things that come with kiddos. I actually really like this cropped leggings option worn with a super short tunic/dress… which in all honesty, unless you’re in your twenties, is a bit too short to be worn with bare legs. Another cute option would be to pair it with cut-offs or boyfriend shorts and leave a few of the bottom buttons open so it flutters around a bit.

Boyfriend shorts & a festive blouse…

This is a no-brainer, really. Throw on your favorite shorts and a loose-fitting, ultra comfy top and call it a day. Opt for a brightly colored and festive bag or clutch for a little POP of festive fun.

Flirty Fem with Masculine Touches…

For some reason, I just LOVE the mix of this flirty floral dress paired with masculine details like the camp jacket, hat, and boots. It just works… and it’s fun… and it’s cool… and it can go from day to night. If you get hot, just tie the jacket around your waist… still cute!

Bright and Ruffled…

I have to admit, this is one of my favorite thrift store finds, and it was a more recent one! This strapless jumpsuit is surprisingly flattering and surprisingly comfortable, so don’t knock a brightly colored number just because it looks silly on the hanger. Most definitely try it on… especially if it’s only $10 and has a ruffle! Wear it with flats for day and heels for a night out!

Flirty and Ultra-fem…

This is more feminine of an outfit than I normally wear, but there’s something so lovely about it, and it just felt nice wearing it. It’s a simple black and white look, but the eyelet dress, lace up ribbon platforms, and bright cross body bag, just make it a little more special. It’s a surprisingly favorite look for the way it made me feel while wearing it. Go out of your comfort zone sometimes… it pays off.

Boho Remix…

It’s easy to throw on a tie dye dress with anything really, but adding a bunch of boho-chic accessories takes it to an entirely new level of uniqueness. I love this look and it’s oh-so comfortable.

For an Evening Event…

Sure you can wear this during the day, but it’s a bit of a sexier approach and I’d save it for a nighttime soirée, paired with sexy scrappy sandals, flat or heeled and loose, messy beach waves.

POP POM FUN!

For so many reasons, this is my favorite look. The DIY Pom Pom Jeans are unique but festive and the crop is right on trend. Of course you can choose flats over heels, but this look can go for day or night and it’s just so fun, why not?
