A Week of Cheek: Cheeky Monkey's Thigh Highs

Press Sample
Hello lovely readers! It's Thursday which means I'm coming back at you with yet another Week of Cheek post. When I review for a company and get to select my own shades I do my best to pick colors that I'm not only interested in, but will give you guys a good sense of range of formula and variety within the brand.

Being that the first two swatches were a pastel and a creme, I wanted to mix things up with a shimmery metallic! Thigh Highs is described on the Cheeky Monkey website as Dark Pewter, but in person I would describe it as a cool bronze. Pewter always makes me think of green leaning silvers.

In case you haven't caught on, Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics is a brand that is loaded with sassy personality and it's certainly evident in the way they choose to describe the polishes on their website. Instead of standard color descriptions CM uses sometimes elaborate stories, and Thigh Highs' coordinating tale is no exception. It details a wild night of partying, dancing on tables (in thigh high boots), and an adventure that ends with a DUI. You can click here to read the whole thing, but half of the website's fun is exploring the stories that go with your favorite polish colors.

In the bottle Thigh Highs looks much darker than it does on the nail. It's a bronze leaning silver with tiny flecks of silver shimmer or micro glitter, but they're not especially prominent. My swatch of Thigh Highs is two thin coats along with base and top coat.

I was a little let down by the formula on this color, especially after being impressed previously. Thigh Highs' formula is watery and moderately difficult to control. I did two thin coats but due to the formula it was hard to tell if I needed a third. With those facts aside, it was still a nice polish and I was able to create an even and smooth look.

Thank you so much for reading my review, and I'll leave you with the bit of cheeky wisdom that came with my bottle of Thigh Highs!
