Essential Oils Housewarming Gift Basket Ideas

One of my favorite ways to use essential oils is around my home– to clean, cook with, and make my home smell like a spa. Which got me thinking about what I’d give to someone who is moving to a new home. It’s hard to put together the perfect housewarming gift these days: food is fun but with all the various special diets out there it can be tricky; candles are pretty but hello allergies; soaps and cleaners are handy but yikes, chemicals! Don’t worry, I’ve got your back– here’s an allergy friendly, useful, and chemical free gift basket idea for the ultimate housewarming gift!

Here’s a few of my favorite things gathered in this DIY Housewarming Basket for any homeowner to get started on their chemical-free oily journey:

Thieves Cleaner: mix 2 TB of this concentrated cleaner with water in a Dollar Store spray bottle to make a powerful household cleaning spray. But that’s not all, there’s 30 different ways to use it all around your house. Since it’s super concentrated, it’ll last FOREVER.

Orb Diffuser: This little guy is a great travel diffuser. It plugs into a USB port so you can use it while traveling or in the office too! Mine is currently plugged into my laptop and pepping me up with a lemon scent as we speak.

Glass Spray Bottles: Making your own room spray, linen spray, and other household goodies is limited only by your imagination. It’s always nice to include a few premade concoctions for your friend’s new home! Citrus oils can eat right through plastic so to stay on the safe side I use glass bottles for my mixtures. Mix Purification oil with some water and witch hazel to make an amazing DIY Home Spray (also works as an outdoor camping spray, too!) We make an Ant Spray using lemon oil, peppermint oil, vodka, and water– it seriously works wonders. Or whip up a DIY detangling spray for a chemical free way to detangle hair.

Vase: Vases are always a nice gift, tucking in some homegrown hydrangea is just icing on the cake.

Favorite Household Oils: Purification, Lemon, and Citrus Fresh are household ROCKSTARS. Yes, they smell as good as the names imply and have so many great uses. We use lemon oil to get stickers and labels off in seconds flat, and diffuse it with lavender for a spa-like scent. Purification gets rid of stinky odors– everything from animals to stinky shoes to laundry that’s been in the washer too long (oops)! Citrus Fresh does all of the above and is also heavenly to diffuse.

DIY Beverage Tags: for lazy summer afternoons, make some Ballard knock-off beverage tags.

DIY Coasters: another handmade gift, make even sweeter by carving the initials of the giftees on the coasters.

Basket: This ‘basket’ is actually a Martha Stewart shagreen file box. With so many uses, the homeowner is sure to find it helpful somewhere!

Dish Towels: The contents are actually nestled among flour sack dish towels with a dish towel from Homegoods on top. Why waste money on ‘basket fillers’ when you can use beautiful ones that the giftees will truly appreciate?

I wish I’d thought of it before snapping photos, but I should have added a box of Woozies dryer balls in the basket too. We love them for speeding up drying time, and add our favorite oils to them as well for a wonderful fresh scent! You can seriously clean your entire home with NO chemical with the contents of just this gift basket.

The NEW Premium Starter Kit just launched and I’m offering an incredible, limited time special to celebrate! Please note that this photo is the OLD kit, the oils have changed around a bit and new kit photos can be found here .
