Raiders of the Lost Interviews

You probably don’t need me to tell you this, but, guys, seriously: the Internet is amazing.

Today’s evidence? BlankOnBlank.org, which pinged into my inbox earlier this week thanks to a perpetually in-the-know friend. Not only does the stupidly easy-to-navigate site spotlight forgotten interviews with such luminaries as Janis Joplin and Muhammad Ali, but it also animates and remixes them to stunning effect. In other words, these aren’t your average resurrected roundtables. Instead, Blank on Blank presents: “Tim Gunn on His FBI Agent Father,” Where the Wild Things Are author “Maurice Sendak on Being a Kid,” and “Zelda Kaplan on Fashion and Nightclubs at Age 87.”

Blank On Blank let’s people like Farrah Fawcett and David Foster Wallace live on in their own voices. And best of all, it let’s you eavesdrop.

So when you next invariably OD on cat videos and you’re looking for something to help rebuild your brain, tune in. But don’t blame me for your waning productivity. That’s all Andre Agassi’s fault.

P.S. Here’s Maurice Sendak’s as mentioned earlier, a great one to get you started:

(Raise your hands if this made you a little teary-eyed.)
