Cirque Colors The Manus x Machina Collection - Dior Couture Floral Nail Art Tutorial
Press sample, Sponsored
Hello! I've got another design today using the Manus x Machina collection by Cirque Colors
. Did you get a chance to see my epic post introducing the shades and showing a fashion inspired nail art behind each design? Check it out
! Today's nail art is also inspired by a dress we saw at The Metropolitan Museum of Art Manus x Machina exhibit which is on display now.
Continue reading after the break for the step by step for this design.
This manicure started with Cirque Colors Holdfast Base Coat
and 2 coats of Tulle
from The Manus x Machina collection. A light pink-beige crème inspired by the dichotomy of precision and lightness embodied in handmade accents from the various haute couture métiers, including dentellerie (lacemaking), parurier floral (artificial flowers), plissage (pleating), and plumasserie (featherwork).
was dry I used Cirque Colors Don't Forget the Cannoli
and Lox and Sable
and Nolita Lolita
to lay out the base of flowers for this design. I actually mixed a drop of Don't Forget the Cannoli
and Nolita Lolita
to get the lighter shade of pink I wanted. I used a very small nail art brush to paint them.
Using a small spotter brush I dabbed Cirque Colors Hustle
in the center of the large flowers. Then I went back in with the small round brush using Cirque Colors McKittrick
mixed with Hustle
to paint in the leaves. I dotted Cirque Colors Rita
on two of the white flowers and that's it.
Top coat with Cirque Colors Liquid Laminate Top Coat
and that's it!
I purchased a set of postcards from The Met Gift Shop, and you can see my inspiration for this nail art from the postcards. "Vilmiron" Dress, Spring/Summer 1952, House of Dior
On a side note, I have always been enamored with embroidery, and saw this exhibit just as I was working up the courage to try my skills at hand embroidery for the first time. I'll let you know on Instagram
how that goes!
What do you think? Do you like the floral look, does it match my Dior embroidered inspiration?
I'm loving how these look, and it's really not as hard as it may seem. Just need a very small brush and a steady hand!
