Casual Friday + Moments of the Week

I was doing laundry last week (I know…it surprises me too. I hate laundry. I was always able to get my boyfriends to do it for me but this guy I apparently married somehow got me to do the laundry. Ugh. I gotta figure a way out of this one. But I digress!) and I noticed that all of the clothes I have been wearing lately are either black or gray!!! Such a dark color palette!

So I said to myself, “Self! Inject some color into thy wardrobe you depressing wench!”

So I did. What’s more sunshine-y then the color yellow? And I gotta admit, I felt HAPPY wearing this top

MOMENTS OF THE WEEK:

Total Gross Out Moment

Earlier this week I asked for input on my Fitness Facebook page on which vacuum to invest in: the Dyson or the Shark. Thanks to the wise advice of all these brilliant women (funny…no men responded to this particular post? Huh…) I went ahead and bought the Shark.

And here is the scoop:

– We have been hiring cleaners to come lately because I just can’t keep up with everything. So we’ve been paying for our our house to be cleaned…which is kinda a big deal because I hate spending money on things that I can do myself.

That said, I buy this Shark thing and vacuum Cooper’s room first and THIS photo is ALL of what came up from just his room!!! What the golly?! Grrrrroooossssssssss!!

That very same day, I realize “Hey…where’s my camera? And all of my camera equipment?”

Long story short – our cleaning company not only had a horrible vacuum cleaner but they also had sticky fingers. As a blogger and someone who takes photos all of the time, it was actually devastating. I bought my camera as an investment item…so it was a hard pill to swallow. But I don’t have a blog if I don’t have a camera…so the photos taken above were with the new (much less expensive) camera…

But YAY for a new vacuum and I am GRATEFUL that I am in a position to purchase a new camera to replace the stolen one. Cooper won’t have Christmas this year, but he won’t know the difference.

I’m joking!!

Oh, and yes. We fired the cleaners. Who has two thumbs and is now scrubbing toilets? Haha!

Awesome Moment

A silver lining to living in Las Vegas is the fact that you can meet famous people rather easily. We were strolling Mandalay Bay on Sunday and came across Pete Rose hanging out in a shop signing stuff. My husband immediately walked in bought a bat for Pete to sign and stated “Our son is going to meet Pete Rose gosh darn it.”

Well okay!

So this photo is Pete trying to fist bump Cooper and Cooper not quite sure if he is trust worthy. Haha!!

PS – special shout out to my high school soccer coach Bob!! He is the guy next to me in this photo (wasn’t some random guy who wanted a photo!). Bob is the reason I survived high school without falling into some weird depression or drinking problem. He remains one of my best friends to this day and of course calls me when he is in town! So to all you teachers out there…you DO make a difference!

Sentimental Moment

Just 1 year ago, I remember racing out of my office and driving to a nearby Starbucks to pick up some lunch before racing back to hammer out the three psychological reports that were due that week.

I had been at my new job for 3 months now and it was clear that working with kids/families and collaborating with teachers to help kids was no longer part of my job description. I was officially an over-paid professional report writer. Sadness frustration loss were all feelings that were flooding my heart as I stood in line to order my 2nd black coffee of the day and a little plastic container of salad.

As I stood in line, I remember looking out the window and seeing a woman running down the street pushing a baby stroller. She looked healthy, like she was a seasoned runner. And she looked…happy. I don’t cry often, but I almost started crying in that darn Starbucks because my own little 11 month old son was in a daycare all the way across town and I had this visceral reaction that “I want that for us.”

I didn’t become a coach so that I could quit my job. I became a coach because I felt so detached from helping people…I was not making even the slightest bit of difference in someone’s life. My own coach helped ME so much that I saw it as an opportunity to be THAT difference for someone else. Maybe I could help women like me who want their outsides to match the spirit personality of their insides…

Within a few short months, I realized “Wait…this is amazing.” So after doing the math and some major soul-searching, I took the scary leap.
And the other day on our run, I looked down on Cooper in the stroller and an incredible wave of gratitude and happiness came over me as I recalled that day in the Starbucks.

As we head toward the New Years Resolution season, I know that we will talk a lot about what we want our bodies to look like. But even more importantly, we SHOULD be talking about what we want our LIVES to look like! As we head toward the new year, it’s the perfect time to dream big get focused and take action!

You’ll never regret chasing a passion, right?!

I’ll be announcing my January 2015 Fitness Groups over the weekend, so please send me an email if you want to receive a “menu” – [email protected]

Have an awesome weekend everyone!! And as always, thank you for reading.
