Breakfast Is A Must, Smoothie Is A Lust


Smoothie and snacks for a healthy start of the day

In the past few months I’ve been trying to change my eating habits, by consuming mostly healthy food and eating balanced. When I was younger, sometimes I wasn’t touching fruits for days and even weeks. I’ve been consuming vegetables with salads, but fruits really very rare. And it’s a pity, because they are so important, they have vitamins and are really good for your body.

Another habit that I didn’t have, but I wanted to build was to eat breakfast. I’ve read tons of articles about healthy food and diets and so on and heard from doctors that breakfast is a really important meal, some even say that it’s probably the most important of all. Usually, I don’t have appetite in the morning. In the past, if I woke up at 7:30, I would have eaten at 11-12, and if I woke up at 9 or 10 at the weekends, I would have had my first meal at 1-2 or even 3 p.m. It’s a fact that the metabolism works faster in the morning. So, when I basically used to start eating at lunch time and later, then I had a late dinner and I also used to consume more food, because I was starving from not having breakfast and not eating with hours, at the end I’ve put on some weight.

„I don’t have appetite in the morning“ is not an excuse, because eating breakfast is a habit and like every other habit, you can create it. So, I’ve decided to build these two new habits- eating breakfast and eating fruits every day and I just combined them. I created my eating rule- fruits for breakfast. And it’s getting better, since I really don’t feel like eating early in the morning and eating fruits too often, plus most of the days I don’t even have time to sit and properly eat breakfast- I drink it.

In order to help myself create this habit I had to make a new purchase- the old good blender. I bought my blender with a mission- I’m going to make healthy and delicious smoothies every morning. You might think „a smoothie is not that sate“, but that is wrong. After, I drink a huge glass of smoothie or even glass and a half, I feel full of energy and I’m not getting hungry with hours and I’ve taken my fruits and vitamins.

Actually, it’s important how much calories you take- but there are good and bad ways to take calories. I mean every food has some, take them from good food. The fact that it’s good to eat breakfast, it doesn’t usually mean that you must eat a french toast, or croissant or some other pastry. From time to time, yes, but not everyday. Honestly, if I have this for breakfast, my appetite would come and then I wouldn’t be able to stop eating all day. My smoothies are not just from fruits, I’d also add milk (almond or quinoa), one small spoon of honey or jam and sometimes I also add muesli. So, I basically take like 200-300 calories with this drink. And it’s healthy and it’s so yummy!

I can say that a blender changed my life, seriously, I now cannot start the day without my smoothie. I put 2 or 3 types of fruits, so it’s full of vitamins. The other 3 snacks I’m showing you today, I’d usually take as morning or afternoon snack. I rarely would eat something with the smoothie, but I might have a small snack 2 or 3 hours later, if I woke up really early. And I eat afternoon snacks quite often.

In one of the plates I have wholegrain biscuits and a bar of dark chocolate, in the other I have some raw nuts and in the cup, I have yoghurt and raw nuts. All of these snacks would give you energy and are much better than eating a Sneakers or something like that.

About the smoothie, as I said, I change the ingredients all the time, but here’s the recipe for this one.

For this smoothie I used:

1 banana

4-5 strawberries

almond milk (to cover the fruits in the blender)

1 small spoon of raspberry jam

I usually put 1 banana in every of my smoothies, because the banana will satiate you and yeah, it’s delicious and I also add 1 or 2 other seasonal fruits. I usually use almond or quinoa milk, because they are gluten free and one small spoon of honey. Here I used raspberry jam, but I rarely use it, it makes the smoothie yummy though. As I already mentioned 1 or 2 spoons of muesli can be added too, and that way you won’t feel hungry for hours.

As for lunch and dinner, I try eating balanced and not to mix food wrong- I better just make another article about it
