Places to eat in Surrey – The Weyside, Guildford (dog friendly)

Ooops! I was meant to post this on Tuesday as I thought I would have some downtime in Disneyland. We were literally go, go go the entire time apart from when we slept. I think I will probably get the Disney post up on Sunday.

I wanted to share a place we really like to eat in Guildford. We hadn’t been to the Young’s pub since the refurbishment and loved the cosy, quaint atmosphere when we visited a couple of weeks ago. It is apparent dogs are very welcome at the Weyside so we thought we would return with my camera & Luna after a walk along the river.

As you can see customer experience is all in the detail at The Weyside. Cute little signs scattered around including helping yourself to a book, dried bread to feed the ducks from the outside decking and dog biscuits & beds.

If you are not a dog lover and have no interest in dinning with our furry friends – they are only allowed around the bar area. The whole bottom floor of the conservatory is dog free.

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson aka Lewis Carroll was a frequent visitor to Guildford and spent his final years here. He wrote the second Alice book, Through the Looking Glass, on one of these stays in 1871. There are Alice in Wonderland statues all over Guildford and the Weyside also reflects that with a Cheshire Cat quote on the wall.

Gluten free and allergy information is clearly labelled on the menu’s. I have taken Gluten out of my diet and found there was lots to choose from. I went for the Roasted Chicken supreme with Dauphiniose potatoes and Luke picked the juiciest looking Cheeseburger. The kids menu is fabulous too and there are also smaller options on the main menu for children with more grown-up tastes. Eva hates batter so they were very helpful and willing to cook her the kids fish without. Most importantly….the food is delicious!

I highly recommend the Weyside, you can check out how to get here and menus on their website
