Our visit to Jerusalem

A few days ago we went to Jerusalem with my sister and her family. My sister’s husband Ron arranged a VIP tour of the Knesset (the Israeli parliament) for us. It was very interesting.

The 120 elected members decide about the policies and security matters. I was glad to hear that all the deliberations of the Knesset and all the committees, big and small, are broadcasted live on a special TV channel. The only committees that have closed sessions are the ones that are Military and Security related.

Did you know that we have 16 Arab and Druz members in the Israeli Knesset ?

After we ate at the market, we went to the old city. It is a fascinating place. If you like to travel then you should definitely try and visit. While walking in this old city you can feel the history resonating from every stone and every corner.

Jerusalem is an ancient city, in fact it is one of the oldest cities in the world. During its 5000 years of history, it was destroyed twice, besieged 23 times and attacked 52 times.

And because it was re-built many times, the city has many layers of it underground. So we also visited some archaeological digs and sites near the city walls.

We had a wonderful time in Jerusalem and also got to share it with my sister and her family.
