Chasing rainbows

I have been blogging on and off now for five years.

During that time I have shared snippets of my life, my triumphs, failures and frustrations with going green, my obvious dress addiction and love of vintage and many, many, meatless meals. What started out as simply a place to connect with others trying to live sustainably (when no one else I knew was) has turned into so much more.

I have since made countless connections, built relationships and gained online and real life friends due to my little space here on the web. I am eternally grateful to those who have read my words along the way. What surprises me the most about blogging is the confidence it has instilled within me.

For the first year I blogged anonymously. It was a total secret and kept separate from family and friends. I worried what they would think about the changes I was making while traveling on my sustainable journey. The changes were small at first, but the more I wrote and connected with others on the same path, the more confidence I gained in what I was doing. Eventually the changes became too obvious to hide and my beliefs had been so bolstered by then that I did not care who took note or what they thought. I started sharing my thoughts with the world and my inner circle. And they embraced them.

I realized that I should not shy away from change. Change can be good. It can open up a whole new realm of possibilities. Well, I am ready for another change that I hope you will embrace. I feel it is time to take this blog to the next level.

With the makeover, I brought back the sidebar and with it comes sponsorship opportunities. I am not a fan of having to wade through a sea of ads to get to the content I want, so ad space will be very limited on Midnight Maniac. There will only be five advertisement spaces available per month in the sidebar. One large spot for premium sponsorships, two mid-sized spots sure to be popular and two small spots dedicated solely for bloggers. Other sponsorship opportunities, like having products featured in the main content of the blog, can be found here.

I am not looking for a pot of gold, but there is no harm in chasing rainbows. You never know where they may lead you.

This incredibly intense rainbow, which inspired this post, appeared on the lake across from my house and was shot from my living room window. It is the brightest rainbow I have ever seen. It caught the eye of many folks across the region that day as my Facebook feed lit up with pictures of it. What a delight. I even got to see the other end! I hope it inspired them as much as it inspired me.
