SHE WORE WHAT?! Following Dreams

ModCloth recently launched two private label lines, Myrtlewood

and Bea & Dot
– named after founder Susan’s grandmothers, Beulah and Dorothy. Both collections have pieces I am coveting and a few I own and love.

In celebration of their lines launching, ModCloth has been asking bloggers to style an item from one of their private label collections for their “Uniquely You campaign”. I was asked to participate this week and challenged to style the “Following Dreams Sweater” from their Bea & Dot

line. It is one of the pieces I own and love.

A lightweight sweater featuring navy stripes and polka dots, it is incredibly versatile. Navy is one of those colors that I feel goes with just about any other. And the pattern of this sweater is just simple enough that it coordinates well with others. This day I chose to pair it with an Emily & Fin skirt that I have had for quite some time. I think the polka dots in the sweater play nicely off the dotted flight patterns of the swallows in the skirt.

I wore this ensemble to my hometown for my grandparents’ 90th birthday parties. It is hard to imagine that someday they will no longer be with us. Most of my fond childhood memories are of times spent on their farm with my cousins. We still reminisce and recant those stories when the family gets together at my grandparents’ home, now in town. I think days spent down on the farm had quite an impact on all of us. I wish my new little cousins, the children of the ones I played in the creek with long ago, shared our experiences. I wonder what stories they will gather round and tell of days gone by at great grandma and grandpa’s house?

The rest of the week I will be participating in ModCloth’s Uniquely You campaign, sharing some Polyvore sets I created around this sweater using the pieces below. How would you style it?
