Yesterday’s Polvore board was about easy, classic styling. Today’s is a bit trendier take on the “Following Dreams Sweater,” part of ModCloth’s new Bea & Dot collection. I will be styling this sweater all week as part of ModCloth’s Uniquely You campaign. You can see yesterday’s look here and how I wore it here.

For this look I stuck with the pattern mixing by choosing this skirt with a novelty print of townhouse windows. I think they work well together because of the matching color, obviously, but also that the window sills mimic the stripes of the sweater. Perhaps I put too much thought into my clothing?

One thought that should be given though, when choosing clothing, is how it is made. This skirt was handmade by local women in Ghana, providing them with jobs, education, and skills training. Making it fit the “following dreams” theme even more. Yes, all of my looks have themes and there is usually a personal soundtrack playing in my head to match them.

Speaking of matching, ’cause you all know I love to match, I chose the burgundy hat and shoes to complement the dark windows in the skirt. And a coordinating Bésame lipstick to continue the color from head to toe. Plus, how cool would you look pulling that swanky gold tube from your gold-colored owl bag? Trés chic!

Owls, and animals in general, seem to be everywhere in the fashion and decor industry these days. Including wearing animal ears on your head. Most of the cat ear headbands you see the younger set sporting these days are a bit too trendy for me, but this wool hat is just enough for me to comfortably participate in the fun, playful trend. As is the owl handbag. It is cute and I like it, but if I found myself in a situation where I did not want to be quite that “cute” I could just flip it around. The backside is plain. Most of the time, I would just flaunt it.

I think you should wear what makes you happy.

This ensemble does just that. It make me happy.

Hoo would have thought?
