#FBF // Highschool Was How Long Ago?

I was spacing out and thinking about who-knows-what the other day when I realized that this year is my ten-year high school reunion. What the hey? And so then I thought it might be fun to resurrect the old #FBF post for some embarrassing photos of my high school experience. But there's one problem.

I don't really have many.

So when I was a teenager, I had bad acne and I was kind of chubby and as most 15-18 year olds, I was self conscious about it. I hardly have any photos of myself from around that time, especially when I was at my heaviest! In retrospect it really sucks. But also, I was still shooting film cameras until around 2004, so overall my amount of photos is drastically less.

Isn't it strange how much has changed in ten years? Like, when I was in high school, working in social media wasn't even a career because MySpace had barely even become a thing yet. I had a blog in high school and I'm sure it was the sort of whiney-complainy read that you may find on my Twitter feed. Hah! But all jokes aside... click through for the few embarrassing photos I have of my high school experience.

My brother, Jason, and I in Cincinnati around 2001. I was fourteen.

Homecoming dance, freshman year. I had this on-again-off-again relationship with this dweeby-looking guy named Kasey. Good grief. Apparently I didn't start growing any eyebrow hair until around 2006? In '01 it was just cool to buy your dance dress at DEB, twist your hair back and throw some cheap flowers in it. Great.

I was a cheerleader for many years and then started playing tennis after the cheer coach decided I wasn't skinny/pretty/rich enough to be on the squad anymore. Whoops! Small town ugly duckling stuff, ya know. But tennis was fun. I sucked at it, but was on the varsity team since no one ever tried out for tennis. This photo was probably around 2003.

Did my sophomore year Prom decide the color scheme for Mini Penny? You decide. My date had braces and we went to Red Lobster for dinner. Cool.

Ten years later, this guy on the left is the only person from high school I still talk to. That's us some dance around 2003. I have no idea which one, but I may have gone stag. On the right is me in 2004 with my boyfriend-at-the-time's dog, Shiloh. So, long story short, I graduated high school early and moved in with my boyfriend. And then I was working at a bakery and lost a whole bunch of weight and kept changing my hair color until I found something I liked.

Senior prom. The dress doesn't fit my tiny boobs.

And finally, high school graduation. At this point in my life, I did not want to go to college. But I did anyway. I wanted to be a tattoo artist and ended up going to art school and hated it. But whatever. The rest is history.

Do you have a lot of photos from your teenage years? I wish I had more! And as for the whole "reunion" thing, I'm relatively certain I won't go — but it's funny to think about, right?
