DIY: Ceramic Skull Accent

It's no new news that I'm a big fan of skull decor and accessories. I have been wanting to buy ceramic skulls to display in my room for forever. But, for some reason just never got around to buying one, which now I'm happy that I never did! So when I spotted these unfinished skulls in the Michael's craft store a light bulb went off in my head. I snatched a couple of them, ran to the spray paint department, spent several minute contemplating what color paint I wanted to use and then scurried home to do this quick DIY. What I love about these skulls is that not only are they chic but they are extremely versatile. Obviously they make a great Halloween decor. But wait... don't be so quick to pack them up after Halloween. They can be displayed all year may it be on a desk, stacked with fashion books on a coffee table, or even used as bookends. You may be surprised to hear that these chic skulls are extremely easy (and affordable) to make and require NO artistic ability. Follow the simple instructions below and voila ... you have a new edgy accent piece to display around your room.

What You Need: Ceramic Skulls (available at Michael's) // Krylon Spray Paint (I used the colors Black Satin and Metallic Gold) // Tarp
Instructions:
  1. Place a tarp outside to protect surrounding area from stains. Place the skull in the center of the tarp.
  2. Shake the spray paint bottle. Then spray paint the interior and bottom of the skull. Let dry for five minutes. Then apply a second coat. Allow to dry for thirty minutes.
  3. Spray paint the top of the skull. Let dry for 5 minutes. Then apply a second coat. Allow it to dry for about an hour and then you are done and can find the perfect place to display it!
