Things I love about NYC #7

Even after 2 years living in NYC and there are still so many obvious places that I've never been, mostly places that I hear so much about that I have bookmarked for future dates. Faced with a 3 day weekend, I wanted to do something different, away from Manhattan and all the noise, so on Sunday we took the subway out to Brooklyn Botanic Gardens (aka, the location of my last post!). Although we missed the cherry blossom season, it was still such a great escape from the city and a chance to take some colorful photos! To be honest, I can't tell my petunias from my peonies, but I did manage to snap these photos of my favorites (loved the daisies)! The gardens were actually a lot bigger than I expected, and had some indoor plants too (my favorite was the desert room-- lots of funky cactuses!) so you can easily spend hours wandering the greenery, enjoying all the incredible scents, and (if you're anything like me) devouring an ice-cream while you're at it! We made a full day of it and spent the rest of the afternoon catching some rays in nearby in Prospect Park. I'd definitely call that a Sunday well-spent and a great way to mark the start of summer!

PS- Lots more flowery photos after the jump!
