it’s a girl thing

Having three girls means LOTS of girl things fill my home. Dolls, dresses and drama. Those all come in abundance. It’s always been fascinating to me that you don’t have to teach a child how to be a boy or a girl. You don’t have to teach a little girl that it’s fun to put on a twirly dress and carry a purse. It’s just built in her that she wants to be pretty. You don’t have to teach little boys to like dirt, their DNA is half dirt already. I just love that about God and how He creates us.

Sometimes I’ll take my girls to the store and let them play in the toy section just to look at all of the fun things. It never fails, we always end up on the aisle with the dolls and after about 20 seconds there are 7.2 million dolls spread out across the floor. They just squeal with delight over pretty things and what they love.

It’s just a girl thing.
And as a girl mama, it’s a joy watching them love what they were made to love.

There’s something so special about a handmade doll. I imagine many years from now that Makenzi will give this doll to her daughter and tell her how she played with it as a little girl. We love this doll we got from I Sew Lucky. All of her dolls have such great personalities (yes, a doll can have a personality!) and you can even get one to look like your little one!
