Life Lately.

You know how sometimes you just have one of those weeks where everything seems to be going wrong? They aren't traumatic or really awful, just really annoying. Last week was like that for us, and looking back, all I can do is laugh. Well, I'm still kind of forcing out that laugh, but it's much better than dwelling on what just happened and wondering where we went wrong:
The week started out with me spraining my ankle at church on Sunday after a really great worship service. I didn't realize how bad it was until the next day and it was the size of a softball. A sprained ankle isn't really fun when you have to start packing up your house to move in a week.
Instead of heading to Urgent Care to have it looked at, I accidentally had my mother in law drop me off at the ER. Pretty much doubled our medical bill after having my ankle checked out there.
We've been having to check the air on our tires every two days, so we're pretty sure something will need to be fixed soon. To add to our car bill, our check engine light keeps coming back on, and a huge rock hit my windshield and cracked it.
Oh, and while Joe was checking the car tires before work on Thursday, the day before he was supposed to leave for an out-of-town trip for blogging, he accidentally broke his glasses in half. His only glasses. He hasn't worn contacts in over 4 years, so he decided to go get an eye exam that evening just for contacts to get him through the weekend. He also had to pull out his old high school glasses to get him through his day at work. They are horrible.
And I can't forget the most annoying thing that happened to us this weekend: Before leaving the house to pick up Joseph from the airport, Josiah locked us out. The keys that are usually on my keychain were in the realtor's lockbox for the house, which were locked behind our screen door. There was no getting back in. So, we picked up Joseph, came back home, called the police, and had them help us climb on the roof and break into a window. Actually, a window was unlocked, so it wasn't that bad...
See? They're all silly, annoying things that really aren't life-threatening. Just things that bring you down, discourage you, kick your butt and make you wonder what you did wrong to make all of these things happen at once.
Weeks like this are when my relationship with Jesus really comes in handy (not like it doesn't usually... you know what I mean). After every mishap and stupid mistake, I knew that everything was going to be okay. Without Him, I would have been a stressed out mess, a puddle of worry and regret crying on the floor, wondering what was going to happen next to make this week worse. Instead, I spent my week knowing that if one more thing did go wrong, it was going to be okay. I didn't need to worry or stress out about what was happening, because I had Someone to put my trust and hope in, knowing that we were going to get through this week with Him near.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
I'm happy to report that the remainder of the weekend was pretty flawless and ended on a great note with us celebrating Father's Day. We got to spend quality time with Joseph after his trip away, relaxed at the beach, played in the sand, ate watermelon, spent some time with my dad and grandma, and got to see my brother's engagement ring he had just picked up to propose to his girlfriend that evening. With all the junk that happened earlier in the week, I felt like it was washed away after yesterday's awesomeness.
