Over a decade the rise of street style manifestation recently has created a fresh air and new aspect for fashion industry. "Globalization has had a profound impact on all aspects of the fashion system, including the phenomenon of street style" said Valerie Steele on her article for NY Times, emphasized that street style slowly has its own niche. The idea of being authentic (although sometimes more like a rebellion) and being true to ourselves when it comes to the way we perceived fashion has clearly made its own place in the industry itself. From street style blog to street style community, those phenomena periphrastically inspired not only people who creates fashion aesthetic but also who enjoy fashion and breathe with it. Obviously the street has a big impact on how people dress themselves everyday with their own uniqueness that made street style so momentous, and as one of the most coveted street style city, New York has offered its own aesthetic as an inspiration to Sid Neigum Fall - Winter 2012/2013 collection. Showing in Toronto Fashion Week, the Big Apple's street style has made a statement of his Fall collection, "East meets East".
The first few look outs from Sid Neigum clearly showed his skill to process high quality material into well-structured and fluid pieces, for instance, the leather baseball jacket worn over long shirt and the refined chef coat with longer hemline and oversized draped neckline evidence to his fascinating cutting technique. The notion of his androgynous signature became clear after a female model strolled down the runway sporting white long sheath dress with decorous slit paired with asymmetrical leather jacket and Doc Mart boots. He keep the color palette muted to let the collection speaks for itself; black, tan and white were triumphantly decorate the runway.
Tailoring, simultaneously has always been part of the picture with Neigum. All the models outerwears definitely made for modern day, the double-faced coat with quilted lined was one of the highlight together with tan knit sweater. The idea of refining the androgynous shape in the runway was one of his extraordinary gizmo. This collection enunciated a thought of craftsmanship process and affirmed the designers' consistency. Neigum who's interned for Yigal Azrouel showed that he is capable of creating intriguing outerwears with exquisite tailoring, and along with his strong vision we saw another promising talent that worth to wait next season.
