Chicago Day 2 Word Study and Writing
Day 2 in Chicago was just as fun as Day 1.
Today we talked about word study intervention and writing. For word study, we talked about creating predictable and engaging activities that would provide sustained learning through out the year. We talked about teaching the students routines, then swapping out the activities as the year progresses.

At the beginning of the year, we learn this game as an
ABC activity. We now play this game with
CVC words. It is also available with
CVCe words.
We also play
Roll, Say, Keep... over and over and over. We start the year with
ABC cards, then move to sight words. You can find those activities
HERE.
We also talked about the
sight word intervention unit that you can totally customize to meet your own classroom needs. This is a picture of our 4th grade Junior Teachers who provide one-on-one support for some of my students each day. This has been a game changer. My students love it and our 4th grade friends take on a leadership role! You can find this activity
HERE.
We talked about my LOVE for
ESGI! I would be lost without this assessment tool that allows me to seriously target my instruction! Click
