Multi purpose plant oils from Aveda, Crop, and A Bit Hippy

I love how so many brands are now offering a pure plant oils and blends in their skin care lines. I remember a time when all treatment oils- whether it be for hair or skin- were mostly mineral oil and silicones.

Keep reading after the jump!

Here are some new multi purpose oils on the market:

Aveda Shampure ($49)

Released this August, Aveda developed Shampure Composition as a moisturising oil (for scalp, body, and bath), as well as for the aromatic ‘mind calming’ mix of 25 flower and plant essences. For those who enjoy the scent, there is a Shampure candle available.

My favourite way of using this after a shower- it is quite a lightweight oil (sunflower oil is the base), which absorbs quite quickly and gives skin a suppleness and sheen. It’s light enough to use during the warmer weather.

Crop: Pure Rosehip oil ($18/20mL).

Rose Hip Oil is a staple in my skin care routine for it’s concentrated levels of Vitamin A, Lycopene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Beta Carotene. This particular Rose Hip Oil has that great herbaceous scent and deep orange colour that tells me that the oil hasn’t been over processed.

Crop: Pure Macadamia oil ($15/20mL)

I love using Macadamia oil as a luxurious base in body care (haven’t DIY-ed in a long time, but it was a favourite). It’s an easily absorbed, moisturising oil for the body, as well as the perfect consistency for a massage oil.

Crop: Argan Oil ($18/20mL).

Argan oil is a nutrition rich, super moisturising oil that works well alternated with rose hip oil on the face, or added to hair conditioners (a few drops will do).

A Bit HIPPY: Rosehip with Benefits

Another great rose hip oil that has had minimal processing, similar to the Crop one.

Crop skin care has launched recently in September and should be rolling out at a Coles near you. See their website cropnaturalskincare.com for more details.

A Bit Hippy skin care is available at selected pharmacies and www.abithippy.com.au

Aveda is available at Aveda Experience Centre retail stores, participating Aveda Salons and Spas, and online at www.aveda.com.au
