The Japanese Konjac Sponge | Bamboo Charcoal

Today I want to talk a little about the The Japanese Konjac Sponge. I have been in LOVE with these little guys for a while now. A friend of mine raved about them about 3 years ago and I have been using them ever since. The one that I am talking about today is Bamboo Charcoal.

Basically these puffy sponges are 100% natural and made in Japan, hence the name! ha These sponges are awesome at gently exfoliating and are perfect for even the most sensitive skin types. This Konjac sponge itself has bamboo charcoal extract powder within it which makes it perfectly suitable for oily and acne prone skin. This specific sponge eliminates oil, draws dirt and excess sebum out of the pores. I have noticed that my skin TYPICALLY gets less oily throughout the day when I am using these sponges on a regular basis and I don’t know if it is because of the extracts being used or the regular exfoliation. Either way, I will take it.

The sponge comes packaged dry and it is quite hard to the touch. With each use you are supposed to rinse and soak it in warm water until it is fluffy and soft and perfection. They expand to almost double the original size when wet. You can use the sponge by itself since it does have the extract powders inside, or you can pair it with your favorite cleanser. I like to use it on it’s own at first and then after I feel like I have drained it from all the power of the extracts I then continue use with cleansers.

If you are looking to get one of The Japanese Konjac Sponges for yourself then check the brand’s website or Amazon! THey come in quite a few different types. Mine is the Bamboo Charcoal, but you can also get Green Tea, Citrus Fruits, or even Cherry Blossom! Try it for yourself. You won’t regret it.
