Sparkly rainbow nails with Orly - Mirrorball and OPI - Sheer Tints

Happy Sunday everyone,
I hope you are having a great weekend so far. It has been quiet on the blog this week and that is partly due to lots of work at my daytime job. A deadline for a manuscript is coming up fast and I need to finish quite some experiments before I can submit it. The tiny break is also due to me being low on blogging mojo. Don't worry, there is no way I will give up on painting my nails or blogging. I have been blogging for 3 and a half years by now and during this past year, I have noticed quite some changes in the blogosphere. At some point, I might write a seperate post about that if you are interested in my thoughts on the future of blogging in general. Let me know in the comments if you do or don't! Okay, enough blabbing for now, on to the nails!

Recently on Instagram, I saw someone using the OPI Sheer Tints over a holographic glitter polish and I really loved the effect. I am afraid I cannot recall whose account is was. So I grabbed the beloved Orly Mirrorball, which already looks stunning on its own, and simply dabbed all four Sheer Tints on top of it. The result were some sparkly rainbow-like nails.

The Sheer Tints just add a wash of color to the silver Mirrorball, without dulling the holographic effect, so it is still uber sparkly, especially in sunlight. Honestly, when I first got the Sheer Tint top coats, I had no idea what to do with them, except for using them for watercolor nails, but now I will play around with them over different glitter polishes I think :D What are you using them for?
