Soma Intimates

Bras. Let’s talk about them. Often they are ill-fitting, too small, too big, old, saggy, itchy or scratchy. I’ll be honest, I’ve had my fair share of struggles when it comes to my bust size and buying bras because I developed a little earlier than my friends and was on the larger cup size at a young age but still was fairly petite. And when you are short and small with a big bust, it can be a bit difficult to get dressed and feel comfortable. Does anyone else share in this issue?
But now that I am in my 30s I have finally figured out what bras work for me and which ones don’t. Just to give you a little background on me…I work as a personal stylist and work with woman of all ages and body shapes so we talk about everything from clothing to bras to whatever else is on their mind, which has really helped me hone in on what women need. And, I’ve been featured in, as well as written a couple different magazine articles talking about this topic actually – dressing for your shape, which includes your bust size, and ultimately what it comes down to, is finding the right bra to wear under all the fabulous clothing that you hopefully will feel so good wearing! :)
So, that’s where Soma Intimates comes in to play! My Mom bought me a Soma Intimates minimizer a while back and I was immediately hooked. It made wearing chunky sweaters, button down shirts and turtlenecks so much easier and more flattering. But I don’t always want to be wearing a minimizer – sometimes I want to wear a pretty bra with lace on it underneath my favorite tee or dress, so when Soma approached me to talk about bras and how important they are when dressing yourself, I jumped at the chance to be involved.
The brand is offering so many different options now – everything from lace to patterned t-shirt bras, age-defying and strapless bras. I decided to style their Enhancing Shape Bra, which is like a classic t-shirt bra. Instead of just wearing a v-neck, I chose a type of clothing that a lot of women are nervous to wear, which is anything stripe, since they are afraid it will make them look wide. I figured, if I can show how to wear stripes with a good bra, than hopefully I can inspire other to do the same!

So, first off, let’s go back to the Soma Intimates Enhancing Shape Bra I am wearing underneath this striped dress. I love it because it’s super soft, comfortable and very supportive. It helps lift you in all the right places and doesn’t allow any part of your breast to bulge out, yet isn’t stifling or restrictive. Plus another perk is that the bra has built in top shaping technology that eliminates gaps between you and your bra. As most women get older, or if if they have a child, they experience loss of tissue at the top of the breast, but this Enhancing Shape Bra combats that problem which is why it’s age defying. Pretty awesome, right? Ok, so…the reason I chose this striped dress is because it could potentially make me look a lot wider across the chest if I wasn’t wearing the right bra, but with this Soma Intimates Enhancing Shape Bra, I feel contained, perky and very confident. I am not one to show off my bust line, but I think it’s important for a woman’s chest area to look feminine, shapely and well proportioned, which can be an issue if placed in an ill-fitting bra. You don’t want to have boob muffin top side, bottom anything anywhere, you know? Anyway, needless to say, I am big fan of Soma Intimates and have been wearing the brand for years. They offer a variations of bras in sizes starting at at 32A all the way up to 32G and have a great selection of underwear, shapewear as well as apparel, sleepwear and swimwear! I highly recommend you all going out and giving the brand a try!
