The West and the East. After the first desire of craving sushi and having abandoned the best known cliché we enter into a reality that has some dangerous points in common with ours.
The pop world, media and television have similar mechanisms, which produce interesting effects. One of this is idol.
Now imagine the Pussycat Dolls, extend their eyes and let them speak in Japanese, so you have created one of the most important oriental phenomena of last 30 years.
The term idol identifies a group of teenagers very popular and very gifted. They are models, singers, dancers. Are ubiquitous and worshiped as gods, true objects of worship. L’Occidente e l’Oriente, quello estremo e lontanissimo. Dopo la prima voglia di sushi ed aver abbandonato i più conosciuti cliché ci addentriamo in una realtà che ha dei pericolosi punti in comune con la nostra.
Il mondo del pop, dei media e la televisione hanno dei meccanismi simili, che producono effetti interessanti. Uno su tutti: le idol.
Ora immaginate le Pussycat Dolls, allungate loro gli occhi e fatele parlare in giapponese, avete così creato uno dei più importanti fenomeni orientali degli ultimo 30 anni.
Con il termine idol si identifica un gruppo di teenager molto popolare e molto dotato. Una sorta di personaggi dello spettacolo a tutto tondo: modelli, cantanti e ballerini. Sono onnipresenti e venerati come dei, veri e propri oggetti di culto. Di solito all’inizio della loro carriera vengono selezionati e si crea un gruppo, una mossa costruita a tavolino per il raggiungimento della fama. Dopo anni di hit e lancio di tendenze, qualcuno di loro ha più successo di altri e la carriera evolve verso il cinema, come nel caso di Fujimoto Miki.

Occhi enormi e look da anime, una carriera iniziata come blogger ed evoluzione in modella e cantante. Detta lo stile in tutto il mondo e ci fa esplorare la cultura pop giapponese. Abbiamo rintracciato una decina di fan club in tutto il mondo ed interviste ai magazine più famosi. Kyary si inserisce perfettamente nella corrente Kawaii, che in Giappone significa carino. Donne che rendono la propria figura più innocente, pelle liscia come bambole, alterano il taglio dei propri occhi per renderli più grandi con la blefaroplastica, ciglia finte e trucco estremo. Le Lolita per internderci. Vivono in un mondo rosa, popolato da unicorni e cupcake, ad un passo dal cosplay.
La globalizzazione sta aiutando questi mix culturali, con risultati inaspettati.
