Gifty Galore 2015 – Project 12

Today’s Gifty project comes from the Quilt Expressions Blog. You can get to their step by step tutorial (complete with pictures) by clicking here.

I loved the look of these potholders, and the clever idea of tucking a recipe card and spatula into the pocket. So perfect for gift giving on their own or with a home baked goodie!

In keeping with the theme of Christmas gifts, I chose Christmas Glitz fabrics 8017 Snowflakes-Crimson and 8007 Holly-Black/Metallic to make my first one.

But then I wanted something that was not Christmas-y, and because I love kitties, I chose to make a second one out of The Highlands Collection using 8749 Cattitude-Cocoa and 8748 Don’t Fence Me In-Cocoa. (I can’t get enough of those faces!)

Because the cat faces are directional I had to pay attention to how I cut out my pocket piece.

You will also need 20667 Insul-Bright and scraps of batting (don’t you love it when you can use up some of those scraps you’ve been saving?)

These really do go together super fast–even the binding is machine stitched down.

We would LOVE to see how your projects turn out. Head over to the new Gifty Galore Flickr page and post your project photos there for everyone to enjoy! Of course, we would also love to see your pictures on our Facebook wall. Please post any questions about this project below in the comments and we will gladly respond to you directly.
