DIY Marble Tray

We can't get enough of marble at the moment, it's a really luxe way to spruce up a room. Here's how to make a storage tray with a faux marble finish - it costs just a few pounds and looks beautiful...

You Will Need:

Step One
Lay your marble self-adhesive flat on a table and place the box or tray on the marble, with the inside of the box facing upwards. Carefully cut around the adhesive so you have a perfect sheet for the inside bottom section of the box.

Step Two
Place your box or tray on an old sheet or towel, and follow the instructions on your tin of spray paint. Make sure there's no furniture or clothes in the way as the spray paint can be messy, and open a window.

Step Three
Spray the whole box lightly with the acrylic paint - do a few coats, waiting for it to dry in between coats. Once completely dry, turn it over and do the other side.

Step Four
Once dry, place the box on a flat table and grab your adhesive paper. Peel off the adhesive slightly, so around 2 inches is peeled off the backing, then place the sticky side down on the bottom of the box so it's flush against the side. Rub the adhesive from the top downwards, making sure there's no air bubbles at all.
Keep going down very slowly, making sure to peel the adhesive off the backing paper as you go. Do it slowly and there shouldn't be any bubbles.

Step Five
Make sure the marble is placed perfectly, and cut off any stray ends with your box cutter - do this really slowly and carefully.

Now just load up your tray with your favourite things - some perfumes or your evening skincare routine - and place it on your bedside table or dressing table.

That's all there is to it!
