IKEA Hack: Record Player Stand

When the time came for us to find a good quality record player stand, with copious amounts of storage for all the vinyl, it was an impossible task. Everything we came across was either out of our (reasonable) budget or didn't work with the room...

This meant we just had to get creative and think outside of the box. Customising this cute IKEA MUSKEN Bedside Table (£25) seemed like an easy option; it's the right height (of a bedside table) and the front allowed for lots of storage for our records.

To make it suitable for record storage, we missed out the step which involved putting the shelf in. This way the records slot perfectly in, and you have a place to keep your collection - handy if it's as impressive as ours!

The top sits a good-sized player on perfectly; ours is a cute Crosley Cruiser Briefcase Turntable - it's portable, a delicious blue hue and it looks great against the dark walnut wood of the stand.

To make the stand have a front display, we also kept the door off - this way the record collection is on display and so serves as an eye-catching display. The choice is yours with this one, we love a bit of organised cluttered so having the vinyl out there was a no brainer for us show-offs.

We thought about giving the stand a lick of paint for a more modern update, but the retro vibe works with the Crosley and the entire room. Instead we decided to plop down a couple of cushions, a set of headphones and some organised stacks of vinyl for a really fun 'sit down and chill' vibe.

Have you thought about customising a record stand?
