This banner may be tiny, but it shows some big love. It can quickly be sewn, or for even faster results, use fabric glue. Pop it in the mail on a piece of chipboard for support – just be sure you have enough postage for it to get to your valentine.
Materials needed: white, pink and red felt, twine or string, bamboo skewers, rotary cutter (optional) and cutting mat, ruler, pencil, scissors, needle and thread (or fabric glue instead).
Step 1: Cut out a 3” x 4” piece of white felt.
Step 2: Fold in half width wide. Measure 1″ up from the bottom edge and mark with a pencil.
Step 3: Cut from the center mark to each side mark to create the bottom of the banner.
Step 4: Out of pink or red felt, cut out a heart by folding an approximately 2″ x 2″ square and cutting it free-hand, or Google a 2” heart template if you need to.
Step 5: Sew, or simply glue, the heart on the center of the white banner.
Step 6: Fold the top edge 1/2″ down and either stitch or sew straight across. Make sure there is enough space for the skewer to slide through.
Step 7: Cut a length of bamboo skewer to 3 1/2″.
Step 8: Insert the skewer into the hem.
Step 9: Tie a 4″ piece of twine or string from each side of the skewer.
