Oversize Mother’s Day Awards DIY

Doesn’t your mom deserve a GIANT award (or two, or three, or four) for being the best mom ever? These supersized ribbons really send the message – and they’re so easy to make using paper fans! I made these with golds and pinks but they can be easily customized with your mom’s favorite colors.

Materials needed: paper fans (shown here are 8”, 12” and 16” fans), card stock or colored copy paper, Mother’s Day awards template, scissors, hot glue gun.

Step 1: Print out medallions from the Mother’s Day awards template. There are two sizes – the smaller circles work with the 8″ and 12″ fans, and the larger circles works with the 12″ and 16″ fans.
Step 2: Cut out the medallions, according to what size fan you have.
Step 3: Open the fans. If you are using the 8” handmade party fans, cut the bamboo handle off. Secure the fan with a paper clip.
Step 4: Using hot glue, attach a medallion to the center of the fan
Step 5: Cut out two rectangles out of card stock. For the 8” fans, cut 2 ½” x 9” rectangles. For the 12” fans, cut 3” x 10” rectangles. For the 16” fans, cut 4 ½” x 18” rectangles. Notch one end of each rectangle.
Step 6: Using hot glue, gently attach the notched rectangles to the lower edge of the backside of the fans, making sure they are lined up perpendicularly beneath the text of the medallions.
