Runway Report: Rachel Zoe Fall 2015

While so many designers seem to be leaning on the 70’s disco era for inspiration this year, leave it to Rachel Zoe to stick to her other tried and true favorite decade, the swinging 60’s. With a British country-side feel and influenced by the icons of the time – Jean Shrimpton, Twiggy and Penelope Tree to name a few – she provided a contemporary spin on mod fashion thanks to precise tailoring, inventive embellishments, sleek construction and simplistic styling.

For daytime, Zoe developed the perfect high-waisted flared trouser to pair with her silk lapel blazers and cropped jackets with gold hardware. For those who prefer something with a shorter hemline there were plenty of mini-dresses to choose from often trimmed with fur and brass buttons and of course it was hard to pass up on the outerwear thanks to a hunter green fur solider coat and front threaded poncho. When it came to getting a little more gussied up, the stylist/designer provided a variety of stunning ensembles with standouts like a pearl trim jumpsuit, textured confetti sequined gowns, and a take on the power suit that was delightfully feminine in both an all cream number and a blurry leopard print. And while the palette remained bold and graphic the bursts of red and houndstooth print only added to the groovy feelings we were all experiencing.
