Runway Report: Versace Fall 2015

Donatella Versace has earned herself the title of Digital Sphere Goddess. Not because she’s snazzier at using a laptop and smartphone (although she probably is, wonder woman and all…) but because she flawlessly worked a hashtag and an @ sign into Versace’s latest autumn/winter collection today – and it totally worked.

Of course, in true Versace form, there was plenty of sass, power and glamor to swoon over. This time, everything was multiplied or divided by two: bigger hair, shorter dresses, and deeper slits; it was sensual, playful and a perfect embodiment of the brand – if there’s any designer that sticks to her guns, you can certainly bet it’s Donatella.

Splashes of bold red, sunny yellow and neon greens were thrown in with pinstripes and funky prints that took a gleeful nod to the 60s, coming in the form of asymmetrical dresses, coats, two-piece suits, mini skirts, mismatched fabrics and thigh high boots. Standout looks included those tiny – and pretty sexy – dresses that were bathed in colorful sequins, Versace at its finest. Details didn’t go amiss – slashed cutouts, hashtag motfis, ‘Versace’ emblazoned across sweatshirts and earrings, and bags featuring the über cool “emoji of the future”, which was an impressive spin on the medusa logo.
