The Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Foundation is the first foundation that I’ve ever tried that allows me to hug people with confidence. I received a gift card to pick up this product for review. I was color matched at the Estée Lauder counter at my local Macys earlier in the week but wore the foundation for the first time on Saturday when I went to guide upcoming beauty enthusiast at a makeup 101 workshop in New Haven.
I have tested this product for two days now and let me start off by admitting that I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION and here are my reasons why.
Packaging
I think it’s pretty and looks really great on my makeup table. I love the gold accent and yes, that is an Estée Lauder brush!
Availability
Thank you Estée Lauder for recognizing that there are women with shades outside of the beige family and for giving us enough options so that those of us on the other side of the spectrum don’t have to struggle with mixing our foundation. There are 30–(THIRTY) shades available with 11 or so of those shades suitable for women with darker skin tones. The foundation is also easily available at department stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom and some Sephora’s. My local Sephora (Westfarms Mall) does not carry the brand. For a high end brand it’s also pretty reasonably priced. $37 is really not a bad price for 1 ounce of product.
Coverage
This is a buildable foundation that offers sheer to medium coverage. I think it did a great job covering up my old friend, hyper pigmentation. I used a brush for the application and then blended it using a makeup sponge.
Performance
According to their site, this worry-free, long-wearing (15 hours) makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity. The foundation was formulated so that it won’t change color, smudge or come off on clothes. I’ve found these claims to be true and this foundation gets an A for performance! Also for my allergy sufferers, sensitive skin and fellow adult acne suffers, this product is Fragrance- and oil-free, dermatologist-tested, and non-acnegenic.
Cons
One tip that I want to leave you with is that I would highly recommend that you use a translucent setting powder to set the makeup if you are using powder from another brand. If you use anything else you might run the risk of changing the color of the product. I know this from experience! Other than that, I would highly recommend that you give this product a try. I left my friend Karraine a smidget of the foundation after wrapping up the makeup workshop on Saturday. She shared her experience on Facebook and there after that, a slew of other women shared their own testimonials and confessed that their everyday flawless looks were as a result of this foundation.
