Review: Lashem’s Colour Strokes Brow Tint

After reading the product description, I really had high hopes for Lashem’s Colour Strokes Brow Tint Lift w/ Lash Enhancing Serum. Unfortunately, after several attempts, this product just did not work for me. Before I explain why, allow me to give you a little background of my brow situation.

When I left home to attend college, one of the first things I did to declare liberation from the parents was to pluck my brows. Back then, my brows were thick and healthy, but instead of seeing beautiful brows, I saw two horrendous caterpillars. Once I started, for the next 10 years, I continued to wax and pluck my eyebrows into extinction.

At some point in my 30’s I read somewhere that bold brows were in style so, I decided to let them grow out. Weeks, months, years and patience passed and the growth of my brows remained stunted and sparse. At some point last year, I accepted that my brows were never going to return to their former glory and even considered getting an eyebrow tattoo.

Brow power, after they were painted on by an experienced MUA.

Earlier this year, a makeup artist filled my brows in and when I looked at them, regret finally reached me. My penciled-in, thicker brows framed my face perfectly and actually took years off of my not so young anymore face. Since then, I’ve attempted to fill them in every morning using an eyebrow pencil and powder. My first attempts were, pathetic but over time, I’ve improved and while some days are better than others, my process still did not get any easier or efficient. This is one of the reasons that I was so happy when I discovered the Lashem brow tint.

What I liked…

For the record, I own Lashem’s liquid eyeliner and that product is pretty solid! The packaging for the brow tint was pretty dope… that’s about all I can say!

First Impressions and Why It Didn’t Work For me…

The color options were blonde, brunette and raven. I picked raven because it was their darkest color which looked like a true black or dark brown on their site. I swatched it on my hand right after ripping it out of its package…and then swatched it again and my anticipation turned into disappointment. Raven is neither black or dark brown. It’s a charcoal grey with a greenish, silverish undertone which reflects as, “oh hell no” against my skin.

This picture hasn’t been manipulated. That’s the actual color of the product out of the bottle.

The size of the applicator brush tells me that this was meant for people that already have thick brows. Although, they have achieved a little bit of growth, my brows were too sparse for a brush that size so most of the product ended up on my skin and not on the hairs of my brow. I used a Q-tip to clean up the excess and… it looked like I added mascara on my brows and then powdered it with a white powder… Sigh!

What Lashem looks like after it’s been thoroughly manipulated.

I played with this for hours last night, hoping that it was user error and not product. It actually looks “ok” when it is applied as a final step after penciling in your brow, filling it with powder, etc, but it kind of defeats the purpose of why I wanted to get it because using this product as a final step certainly doesn’t make the process more efficient.

The one gleam of hope I have left for this product is that it promotes hair growth. I’ll add it to my brows as a final step (might as well) and see what happens.

As required through BrandBacker, I sent my honest review to Lashem and this was their response.
