So I finally had the chance to try this oil pulling thing. Honestly, the thought of putting a cup of oil in my mouth and then swishing it around for 20 minutes made me gag. It took me back to my youthful days in Jamaica when my Grandma gave me cod liver oil. Do I even need to go into the details of how awful it was to swallow a spoonful of oil that was siphoned from the liver of fish every morning right before school? When I read about the benefits and then realized that WebMD had kind of sort of endorsed the practice I decided to take the plunge, however.
History of oil pulling and Purported Benefits.
Oil pulling is an ancient ayurvedic practice that dates back 3,000 years. When oil is swished in the mouth, oil soluble toxins dumped in saliva adhere to the oil.
“The act of swishing the oil pulls the oil soluble toxins and harmful microbes residing in the mouth from the fat cells. When practiced regularly, oil pulling can reduce inflammation. That is because as the level of toxins in the toxic fat decreases, the body withdraws water around them and reduce inflammation. Consequently, the PURE system that has become ineffective can finally function effectively again . The acts of exercising, eating right, drinking water and breathing facilitate weight loss and promote better health. As per customer reviews on www.earthclinic.com, oil pulling can help improve oral and systemic health, which can help alleviate tooth decay, bad breath, headaches, migraines, diabetes, asthma and acne, as well as whiten teeth. Its been established that healthy teeth lead to a healthy heart and overall good health..”
How I Use
Gurunanda pulling oil comes with a cup. I fill the little cup halfway with oil, swish it in my mouth, spit it into my sink, brush my teeth and then use an orabrush tongue cleaner before rinsing my mouth. I gargle using diluted listerine
Thank God for that touch of peppermint in this formula because without it I don’t think the oil or the contents of my stomach would have made it past 10 seconds. Honestly, the taste is not bad. I haven’t quite made it to the recommended 20 minute swishing part of the process. My limit is more like 5 minutes and I think perhaps I made it all the way to 12 minutes one time. Anyways even with 5 minutes, 3x’ a week plan I have noticed some changes.
It Worked For Me:
My one con for this product is that it didn’t touch my acne as others have reported. For the headaches alone though, oil pulling is now part of my weekly routine and this is something that I highly recommend that you try.
