Shake It Out

So here you have it, one last post of me in a bra. Jono, Kai and I teamed up and took these the same day we did these ones and these ones. Our intention was to create a fun, flirty 3-part story — something real and tastefully raw. We weren’t thinking “slutty” we were thinking “slumber party”.

I got some shit for posting a few similar shots on Instagram, which made me a bit surprised, annoyed and slightly apprehensive to publish what you see here. But then, after being so incredibly moved by 99.9% of the feedback I received for opening up and shedding a little light on some common misconceptions that screw up a lot of young girls, I decided to proceed as planned.

Before I continue, I want to say THANK YOU for the heartfelt comments, love and support. Who knew this would end up being one of the posts I am most proud of after nearly six years of blogging? All a result of the encouraging words and kick ass reactions I was so fortunate to receive.

Yep, this is a personal style blog — it will continue to be a personal style blog (and I promise to almost always be fully clothed). But, at the same time, it is also a blog about my life. It is a blog about my struggles, adventures, failures, triumphs — a tangible expression of the weird, kind of nuts, and imperfect girl that I am. A girl I’ve tried hard and am progressively learning to fully accept.

I mean, guess what — I am sitting here on the couch with my hair in a messy bun, writing this post in sweatpants and a bra drinking wine alone on a Friday night. So what? I am not glitzy in a designer dress or going to a fancy party (not to say that getting dolled up and decked out isn’t something I freaking love, because part of me lives for it!). But showing a more vulnerable side on occasion happens to come hand in hand with my personal commitment to be as authentic as possible — in my life, in my work and in my writing.

I will officially end my little rant on that note! Sending lots of love to all and safe travels to everyone leaving town this holiday season. Stay warm, stay safe, and have a happy weekend! <3
