Sew

Anyone remember when I fell in love with Hadley, Mass? Well, the reason I was there originally was to make a book trailer on a brand new sewing book that was coming out --When I first got the call I was like: "Sewing? Me? You want ME to do this? What am I supposed to film? Two women sitting around sewing?!" But all it took was a quick phone call with authors Nicole and Debra to set my mind at ease and I quickly picked up on their friendship and passion for what they were doing. They loved being able to just sit down and make clothes, or fix clothes, or add embellishments, or just make a gift for a friend with their own hands, and whenever I meet people that truly love what they do, than I am excited to turn my camera on them and try and share that good energy. It feels great to be around people that live purposefully and I cant thank them enough for how welcome they made me feel when I was in Hadley and got to spend time with their families. I hope I was able to capture that friendship and their total excitement for their very first book coming out. You tell me if I managed to capture it...Their goal is to try and change the way people think about making things, their mission is to help people get over their fears of messing up, and start having a lot more fun when they create. All good things. If youre interested in reading more about the book, maybe you were thinking of easing into sewing, you can take a look HERE at their blog, Improv Diary and see more of the book, and learn more about the projects waiting for you in the book. Im always nervous to share my work on here, so thanks for the encouragement the last time that I did this. Maybe one day I will actually build a professional portfolio and actually start my business? Saying that or writing that always makes me roll my eyes at myself. You know I think the reason I have never started a business, is because I think as soon as I have one, then I have something that can fail. As soon as there is a name, and a website, and a business card, then there is this official pressure to make it all work. Anyone else operate like this? I think I just hijacked my own post, but sharing this piece about two people that put themselves out there reminded me what a coward I can be. One more thing on the list to concur. I have been putting this off for way too long. Have a great weekend everyone, and a HUGE pile of thank yous to everyone that left a comment about the new garden and our backyard makeover. We have so much more work to do, and it is so very hot out. Happy summer!
