Patchwork Travel Diary #4: London tips you can't miss

Come anticipato nei precedenti post, ecco una piccola pausa da moda e lifestyle per fare un tuffo nello stile British di Londra attraverso alcuni scatti e tips dalla mia trasferta trascorsa per lo più tra vie trasversali e shopping di oggetti vintage.
Accantonando per un attimo un'irrinunciabile tappa serale per avvolgersi nelle luci di Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge e i punti nevralgici più turistici, monumenti e musei d'arte, la vera scoperta sono stati piccoli locali negli angoli più disparati della città, trovati, vissuti e annotati, in cui sono incappata quasi accidentalmente tra un appuntamento e l'altro.
A partire proprio dai dintorni meno caotici dietro Oxford Street, nell'area May Fair: se come me siete amanti dei concept store in cui conoscere e comprare le creazioni di artigiani a km 0, immersi in un eclettico mix di design, arte contemporanea, libri e piante, The new craftsmen fa al caso vostro, e uscire senza esserne affascinati sarà praticamente impossibile. Proseguendo poi per le vie di Soho alla ricerca di uno spuntino, il pub The Three Greyhounds mi ha piacevolmente colpita per il suo gustoso chicken&ham a pochi pounds, assaporato su note jazz, respirando l'atmosfera di Greek Street dove Casanova avrebbe soggiornato nel '700.
E ancora, super consigliato un pit stop mondano per un cocktail con vista panoramica a Brick Lane dai rooftop bar più trendy nel fervido quartiere Shoreditch costellato di murales e gallerie d'arte, in cui poter scegliere tra una cena easy a base di pesce da Simply Fish, lussuosa da Boundary e tipica da Forge&Co., oppure una birra al pub The Tottenham nel cuore della città.
Di certo però, anche con poco tempo a disposizione, non è contemplato mancare all'appuntamento con il Borough food market in cui spizzicare cibo di ogni nazionalità in un ambiente cosmopolita, fare tappa fissa ai mercatini evergreen di Camden Town e Portobello Road tra sapori retrò, vinili, polaroid, una tazza di the al caratteristico Yumchaa, di cui, da vera tea-addicted, vi suggerisco di visitare questa pagina del loro sito per scoprirne di più su origine, lavorazione e curiosità di ogni fragranza, e un salto nella "British madness" della boutique Stumper & Fielding, ahimè solo maschile ma impeccabile e da vedere assolutamente!

As mentioned in the previous post, here's a little break from fashion and lifestyle to take a dip in the British style of London through some shots and tips from my trip spent mostly between cross streets and shopping of vintage items. Setting aside for a moment the necessary evening stages into the lights of Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge and the popular tourist hot spots, monuments and art museums, the real discovery were small rooms around the most distant corners of the city, found, experienced and noted, where I stumbled almost accidentally.
Starting from less chaotic zone behind Oxford Street in Mayfair, if you love concept stores, surrounded by an eclectic mix of design, contemporary art, books and plants, the New craftsmen is right for you, and get out without being fascinated will be virtually impossible.
Continuing along the streets of Soho looking for a snack, The Three Greyhounds pub left me pleasantly surprised by its tasty chicken & ham for few pounds, tasted on jazz notes, breathing the atmosphere of Greek Street where Casanova would have stayed in the '700.
And again, a super recommended pit stop for a fashionable cocktail with panoramic view from the rooftop bar on Brick Lane in trendy Shoreditch district full of murals and art galleries, where you can choose from a easy dinner by Simply Fish, luxurious at Boundary and typical at Forge & Co., or a beer at The Tottenham pub in the heart of the city. Certainly, however, I couldn't miss the Borough food market where nibble food of all nationalities in a cosmopolitan environment, make a stop to the evergreen markets of Camden Town and Portobello Road between retro flavors, vinyl, Polaroid, a cup of tea to the characteristic Yumchaa, and a jump in the British madness of the Stumper & Fielding boutique, alas! only for male but impeccable and to see!
