OPI: Holiday 2015 Starlight Collection Swatches & Review
Provided For Review
Hi guys! Today I have OPI’s latest collection to share with you. There are a whopping 18 polishes in this group so let’s not waste another second and get to the swatches!
“By The Light Of The Moon” has silver glitter in an opaque silver metallic base. Just one question… WHY? Why did this polish ever become a thing? I feel bad for saying it but this is just terrible. 2 coats of chunky awfulness. (These photos actually look better than it did in person.)
“Press * For Silver” is a rosy-toned silver metallic that borders on frosty. There are noticeable brushstrokes and it’s almost a bit too frosty for my taste… also, I feel like it’s not super on the silver side but we’ll give that a pass… I did 2 coats.
“Infrared-y To Glow” has weirdly shaped pink and silver glitter mixed with silver glitter bits in a clear base. Another one I just don’t understand. What is this glitter shape? Not a fan of this one. One coat over “Press * For Silver”.
“Is This Star Taken?” is a pale golden metallic with silver holographic microbars. This one is also super disappointing. Chunky and gross looking. 2 coats.
“I Drive A SuperNova” is a perfect silver foil. It’s super opaque and the kind of silver I like. Great formula and opaque in one coat but I did 2 here.
“Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Meteorite” has charcoal and rose gold glitter in a clear base. Again, Not a fan of this. It’s quite weird and frankly kind of ugly. I did one coat over “I Drive A SuperNova”.
“Super Star Status” is a glittery polish I can get behind in this collection. It has silver glitter bits in a silver foil shimmered clear base. This one could be layered or worn alone like I did here. I did 3 coats.
“Comet Closer” is a pewter foil. Now this is a holiday polish. Not frosty or chunky, just perfectly seasonal and lovely. 2 coats.
“Ce-less-tial Is More” has silver and rose gold small and microglitters plus shimmer in a clear base. This is also a sparkling beauty that gets to opacity in 3 coats.
“Center Of The You-niverse” is a black crelly loaded with prevalent silver shimmer and ineffectual black microglitter bits. At first I was disappointed when I saw the black glitter bits but they disappeared upon the second coat. 2 coats.
“I’m In The Moon For Love” is a stunning plum creme with a glowing fuchsia microshimmer. This. This is just glorious. I don’t even have words for the beauty. Perfect formula. My swatches don’t quite do this justice! 2 coats.
“Love Is In My Cards” is a buttery true red creme. Not unique by any means but I love any red creme and this one is perfect. 2 coats.
“Rom-Man-ce On The Moon” is a perfect Christmas ornament red metallic. Absolutely swoon-worthy and vibrant. Perfect formula. 2 coats.
“Guys & Galaxies” is a deep velvety blood red crelly. It’s very dark and vampy but still light enough that it looks red and not brown or black. I did 2 coats.
“Let Your Love Shine” is a lovely cool red with warm reflective shimmer. Again, not super unique but I just love it and it has a great formula. 2 coats.
“Cosmo With A Twist” has an eggplant jelly base with tons of purple and blue shimmer. This is gorgeous and shimmery with a great formula. 2 coats.
“No More Mr. Night Sky” has lots of reflective silver and gunmetal shimmer in a gunmetal jelly base. I thought this would be super sheer but it it built up pretty well in 3 coats and the end result is gorgeous.
“Give Me Space” has a royal blue crelly base with a pretty scattered holographic shimmer. Gorgeous! It reminds me of Zoya “Dream” which I love. 2 coats.
This collection is one of the biggest mixed bags ever. Some of the polishes were seriously terrible and confusing and others were just lovely! I hope that OPI may take a hint and sticks with the stuff they are so good at, cremes and shimmers, mainly! I’ll take their cremes and shimmers all day, every day!
I’m not sure if I will have time to do comparisons any time soon but if I do, I’d love some suggestions. If you can think of anything you’d like compared, let me know and I’ll try my hardest to get it done. :)
OPI polishes can be purchased at professional salons including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, Ulta.com and Ulta as well as a lot of other retailers and online.
