Diy Kids Puzzle

Jacobs newest obsession lately is the movie CARS. Now, I know the actually movie is a few years old, but it's new to my two year old. Jacob is strictly all boy. Lover of wrestling, bugs, sports balls and cars! He will play with his cars and the people that go in them for HOURS! Right now, he doesn't play with much else. Daily, I have a traffic jam of cars lined up in the living room extending down my hallway and even into my bedroom. :) I have been wanting to make him a puzzle with some pieces of wood that I have had in my craft room for some time now and I thought he would like one to go along with his new obsession. Needless to say, he loves it! :) Want to make your own puzzle? First, decide what type of wood you want to use. I used these wooden slabs that I found at walmart a few years ago...they might still be in stock. They were small plagues about 7in. X about 2in. I think they came in a pack of 3 or 6. Any type of wood would work. Thin or thick.

Cut wood into the size needed. I printed out the picture on an 8 1/2in x 11in. piece of paper...so I cut out my 3 pieces of wood in half leaving me with 6 pieces that were 2 in. X 3.5 inches.
Print your picture.

Paint the back and edges of your cut pieces of wood...yes, I am a sloppy painter! :) It's okay, because its going to be covered anyways. Lay your cut and painted pieces of wood over your picture in the desired area that will be the puzzle.

Trace around the wood pieces one at a time. Cut squares out.

Paint a layer of modge podge on your piece of wood, place your paper on the wood and paint another layer of modge podge on top. Allow to dry.
ENJOY!
( I also applied magnets to the back of the pieces of wood---perfect for him to use on the fridge or baking sheet in the living room! )
You can find me at any of of these GREAT PARTIES
