Safari Baseball Cap Holder

This post is so overdue! I made this fun baseball cap holder for my second son Carter's room back when I first found out we were having another boy--that was about a year ago!! When I was pregnant, I knew that if I had another boy I wanted to go with a safari theme. When I found THIS TUTORIAL over at Martha Stewart, I knew I had to re create it!
Check out her tutorial for the step by step instructions.

I made a few changes to my project. I painted a long board that I had on hand and instead of using an adhesive stencil film, I printed out the templates onto regular printer paper and traced them onto a long piece of freezer paper. I used my exact-o knife to cut out the stencil and pressed the freezer paper onto the piece of wood with a hot iron to create a temporary seal. I used a sponge brush for the base of the animals and instead of using pattering tape, I just painted the stripes free hand. To finish the project, I sanded around the edges to give it more of a rough look and painted a coat of varnish over it. Add your hardware and your finished! You don't need all the fancy supplies they call for. I always try to work with what I have on hand!

I love this little hat rack!

I may be linked up to any one of these GREAT PARTIES
