OPI Liquid Sand Nail Polish in Stay The Night

What happens if you mix sand with water? Wouldn’t you be making mud?!?! Well, when I heard about this “liquid sand” nail polish that was my first thought… yay! Mud on my nails! All kidding aside this liquid sand nail polish is an interesting concept. I bought only one bottle since I wasn’t quite sure how the thing would go on my nails. I expected something really bizarre out of the bottle but I have to say I was surprised to find that I actually liked it! Is it bizarre? Yes, a little. I’m being honest here. I used two coats for this manicure. The first coat looked weird to say the least, but once I applied the second coat the polish came alive, in a weird sort of way. Once I finished my manicure I inspected the results (as I usually do), and thought “man, this liquid sand stuff looks strangely cool”. Now the feel of it is a different story. As you might guess it feels like sandpaper on the nail. It took me a good 24 hours to get used to the texture. I wanted to rip it off, it drove me that crazy. But I left it alone and got used to the grit. The girls at work said they liked it. They said it was odd but pretty, somehow. The instructions say to not apply a topcoat but I did anyway. I could have saved a round of topcoat because it did absolutely nothing to the final finish of the polish. The liquid sand soaked the top coat right away and the polish still looked gritty and rough. I imagine you would have to use 3 or 4 layers of top coat to make this stuff shine! Let’s talk about removal, it wasn’t bad. As I applied this polish to my nails I thought I would have a hell of a time removing it but it was no more work than removing glitter. Actually it was easier to remove than glitter polish. All in all it is a keeper especially to those of you who like to collect limited edition nail polishes. I am thinking that I want the pink one with stars in it. It cost me $9 for this bottle, a little pricier than usual. But oh well, I suppose it is a collectible. I don’t think this liquid sand formula is going to take off and everybody is going to make the same thing like many of the other nail polish formulas we have seen in the past. This one is a little tricky in my opinion, but who knows , I might be wrong. Before you know it we will see liquid sand nail polish at Walgreens! Have you tried this trendy nail polish formula? What did you think ? As always thank you for visiting polishmehappy and I hope to see you here again soon!
